A domain transfer moves registrar management and billing. It is different from pointing DNS to a hosting service.
Prepare at the current registrar
- Confirm the domain is eligible to transfer and is not within a registry transfer lock.
- Verify the registrant email address can receive approval messages.
- Disable the registrar lock when appropriate.
- Request the authorization or EPP code.
- Record the current nameservers and DNS records.
Start the transfer
Use HostAvvy's native transfer page, enter the domain, and follow the WHMCS prompts. Transfer availability, price, renewal behavior, and required fields depend on the TLD and registrar configuration.
Do not cancel the domain at the old registrar. Keep access to both accounts until the transfer completes and confirm that nameservers and DNS remain correct afterward.
